A Frugal February to a Money March

A while back, maybe last year (I think), I participated in a 21 Day Financial Diet. Lately, I have been getting a lot of information regarding finances placed in my face from all kinds of different sources and individuals. So I am catching the hint and I am getting serious about my finances. A few topics I want to mention in this month regarding finances are:

  • 10-10-80 Savings Plan
  • Restoring your credit
  • Financial Goals
  • Financial Diets
First, I want to touch on the financial diet because that is something I plan to do the entire month of February. The 21 day financial diet called for me to refrain from spending money on items that were not needs. So I spent the entire 21 days only spending money on groceries, gas, bills, and necessities. I didn't buy any shoes (gasp), no fast food (my health thanked me), and no extra hair products (sigh...). Instead of doing the financial diet for 21 days this time, I am going to aim for the entire month of February. So that is how I am going to go from a Frugal February to a Money March. (My birthday is in March, *smiles*).

In this economy, any plan that encourages you to save money is a good plan - in my opinion. The next post will include the methods I already use to save money.

What are your financial goals this year?

  3. I'm actually doing a challenge I saw on YouTube. Each week save the number of $s for the week. So for ex sve $1 for week 1 (seems pretty minute), $10 week 10, $36 week 36 etc. By the end of the year I will have saved almost $1400. It's a small amount but def. leads to discipline. The challenge will be the final few months when I'm saving upwards of $200 a month.

  4. My hubby and I decided that it's time to get serious about our emergency fund so we are working towards having that in place and we set up a monthly budget and we pretty much stick to it. Sometimes I feel like I'm broke, and like I have no money but it feels good to pay everything on time and to pay ourselves. I know we are setting up good habits so it is totally worth it!!
